Research recently carried out by HireRight has revealed that 54% of candidates have an inaccuracy on their CV. Whilst 28% off people have falsified a professional qualification, 33% have given incorrect details regarding their employment history.
However, most shocking is the increase in the number of candidates that have incorrectly listed their education information, which has increased by over a third in the last 12 months. 37% of potential employees have falsified their the dates, grades or qualifications they\'ve achieved.
Whilst it is likely that the majority of mistakes are genuine, the study showed that some people were willing to lie on their CV as they believed it was worth the risk. This shows the importance of verifying important information contained within a CV and the careful consideration that needs to be given to what any inaccuracies tell you about the person.
